Practical considerations across the year.
Summer — hydration risk
GLP-1 blunts thirst. Heat increases fluid loss. Combined risk of dehydration/AKI. Drink on schedule, not by thirst. Increase during heat.
Summer — heat exposure
Don't leave medication in hot cars. Use insulated coolers outdoors. Heat-degraded peptide has reduced potency.
Winter holidays — eating
Family meals, social pressure. GLP-1 makes restraint easier; emotional pressure can override. Plan: protein before social meals, communicate boundaries.
Cold/flu season
Vomiting from GI illness is more concerning on GLP-1. Pause therapy and contact prescriber if you can't keep liquids down >24h.
Holiday alcohol
Many patients have markedly reduced alcohol tolerance on GLP-1. Pace. Hydration matters more.
